Rain in Delhi from tomorrow, dust storm will blow, will get relief from heat

IMD Weather Forecast Today: Heatwave conditions will continue to lash Delhi today, a day after the city recorded India's highest ever temperature with the mercury soaring to 52.9 degrees Celsius at the Mungeshpur weather station. However, the city is likely to get some relief from tomorrow as the weather department has predicted partly cloudy sky, very light rain/drizzle with strong winds (speed 25-35 kmph). According to the 7-day forecast, "Delhi will have partly cloudy sky, very light rain/drizzle with thunderstorm/duststorm likely, accompanied by strong winds (speed 25-35 kmph)."

Delhi on Wednesday recorded India's highest ever temperature when the mercury soared to 52.9 degrees Celsius at the city's Mungeshpur weather station. However, IMD officials later said that the record-breaking temperature could be due to either "error in the sensor or local factors".

A few hours later, the city also witnessed light rains accompanied by strong winds, bringing much relief from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that severe heatwave conditions with dry weather will continue over many parts of the country till June 1, adding that the conditions prevailing over northwest and central India will gradually subside over the next 2-3 days.

The weather department said, "Heat wave to severe heatwave conditions will prevail at most places over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, many places over Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh."

Heat wave to severe heatwave conditions are likely over isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha on May 29 and 30 and heatwave conditions are likely over isolated places over Bihar on May 31 and June 1. It added, "Hot night conditions at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorm/ lightning accompanied with gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand."
